Introduction
The Working With the Experts is a program provided by the Florida Department of
Education, Bureau of Exceptional Education and Students Services that offers
professional development opportunities for school- based speech-language
professionals, occupational and physical therapy professionals, teachers of
students with visual impairments, and teachers of students with deafness or
hearing impairments. This program is offered for free to all registered
participants and provides a way for school-based practitioners to earn
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) at not cost. For school-based
speech-language professionals, occupational and physical therapy
professionals, and Teachers of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, registration for each of the events is handled by the school
district program contacts. For registration information for teachers of

The Working With the Experts Program:

Offers high quality professional development from experts around the state and
nation.

Provides accessibility for practitioners with a need for Continuing Education
Units (CEUs) to obtain them at no cost.

Opportunity to pursue professional development while remaining closer to home
through the regional implementation model.
The Working With the Experts concept has been in place in Florida for over 30
years. Funding for the Working With the Experts is provided by the Florida
Department of Education, Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services
through federal assistance under the Individuals with Disabilities Education
Act (IDEA), Part B and D. On average, over 1500 teachers and related services
personnel participate in the Working With the Experts each year.
